RM80/maintenance hour, reasonable?

Posted by: pin on: 17 Feb, 2008

Recently, I talked to few web developers in Malaysia regarding web maintenance after they have completed web projects for their customers. Changes and updates to the website doesn’t seem to be a profitable business after it was launched.

On average, most corporate websites require only about 10-20 maintenance hour in a year. Yes, a year! Do not be surprised, having a website and think an online way are two completely different things.

Yet, website owners complain on the lack of support from their web developers. When asked about how much is the charge, both parties (website owners & web developers) do not seem to have a clear answer regarding this issue!

If a request is handled promptly by a designated project manager (not directly dealing with graphics or HTML programmer that speaks different languages), reviewed and complete the changes without mistakes. If the customer is convinced that the project manager can give them the estimated time required thus resulting in zero overcharged cases!

RM80/maintenance hour can be a good rate to start with!
